Char Spear
Tourism Volunteer of the Year - 2005

Char Spear receives her Award |
Char has been a strong and positive influence in
the community of Lakota. She owns her own business, Char’s
Town and Country Salon, which is housed in the oldest building in
Main Street. She has put much time and effort into making this location
very attractive and eye appealing. Char is an elected member on
the Lakota City Council. Her devotion to the City and School has
fueled her energy to volunteer countless hours to perform acts and
deeds that have enriched Lakota and its residents. Char’s
commitment to her community and family have inspired the same kind
of volunteerism in others so please join us in congratulating Char
Spear as Kossuth County Volunteer of the Year for 2005.
Kathy Fraser
Tourism Volunteer of the Year - 2005

Kathy Fraser receives her Award |
Kathy is a member of the KCEDC Tourism Committee
and has been a life-long resident of Whittemore. Kathy is a tireless
volunteer and has helped inspire the strong sense of community that
exists in Whittemore today. She always goes above and beyond the
necessary help that is needed on the Tourism Committee with all
of the different projects. She will take on a task and fulfill all
of the necessary procedures that are required to complete it. She
is an enthusiastic and committed volunteer. Her quick wit and friendly
demeanor are qualities that make Kathy a natural choice for Kossuth
County Volunteer of the Year for 2005.
Algona
Community of the Year Award - 2005

Algona is the Community of the Year
for 2005. Mayor Lynn Kueck
holds the award. |
In order to receive the Community of the Year award,
a town must display extraordinary efforts to promote tourism and
attract tourists to Kossuth County. This year's winner has gone
above and beyond the usual in many, many ways.
The beautiful State Street Renovation Project alone
is worth recognition, but the residents of Algona have also hosted
an extremely successful Sesquicentennial, another excellent Founder's
Day Celebration, the Annual A.B.A.T.E. Freedom Rally, the highly
popular Craft Show in the fall, Thursday Night Family Fun Nights,
everyone's favorite Band Festival Day, and RAGBRAI XXXIII.
Congratulations Algona for being the Kossuth County
"Community of the Year " for 2005.
