The Kossuth County Employers’ Council and Iowa Workforce Development will be hosting a meeting for employers to learn about OSHA standards. Employers can learn about potential hazards and how to improve their occupational safety and health management systems. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon. The training session will be conducted at the Kossuth County Courthouse Assembly room. All employers, safety personnel, human resource employees, accounting, payroll and other staff members are invited to attend.
Margret Meade, Safety and Health Consultant with the Iowa Division of Labor, will be the speaker. Margret has been with Iowa Workforce Development since 1999. She is an authorized OSHA 10 HR General Industry and Construction trainer and conducts surveys in all types of industries. Margret has also worked as Safety Manager and Maintenance Supervisor in private industry.
Topics to be covered are:
- Introduction to OSHA
- Electrical safety
- Machine guarding
- Lockout / tag out
- Most frequently sited standards
- How to avoid citations
- How to develop safety and health programs
- Inspection policies
Time will also be allowed for discussion.

The Kossuth County Employers’ Council is an employer group in Region 3, supported locally by Iowa Workforce Development, and is part of the statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system. This employers group addresses workforce issues, and provides both educational and networking opportunities for employers.
