OPEN DOORS Scholarships are available to the extent possible through generous donations from friends, families and fundraising events. Financial Scholarships may be used for annual memberships at the Algona Family YMCA. Both members and non-Members are encouraged to apply. BEACH BODY BINGO!

Tell all your friends – it’s time to get ready for the beach!

This summer the YMCA will be offering a trial membership plus registration to our beach body bingo program for only $100.00.  This program will run from May 15th until August 15th.  The program is also open to members (registration for program is $15.00) and includes a variety of fitness activities as well as items such as keeping a food journal for one day, bring an item for the food pantry and more!  Stop in today and get signed up!

SUMMER HOURS

Our summer hours will take effect on May 29th . The hours will be as follows:

Monday – Thursday 4:30 AM to 9:00 PM

Friday – 4:30 AM to 8:00 PM

Saturday – 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Sunday – 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

SUMMER DROP-IN CHILDCARE HOURS

Our free summer Drop-In Childcare hours will also take effect on May 29th.  These hours will run until Labor day:

Monday – Friday 8:30 to 11:30

T-BALL & COACH PITCH BALL REGISTRATION

A new Rookie T-Ball session will be starting on June 4th.  T-Ball is available to boys and girls ages 4-5. T-Ball teams will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays - 4 year olds from 4:30-5:00 and 5 year olds from 5:15-5:45. 

A new Coach Pitch Baseball session will be starting on June 5th.  Coach pitch will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00pm.

There will be no sessions July 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th.

Costs of the programs are $12.00 for members and $36.00 for Non-Members.  Registration deadline is May 27th; there will be a $10.00 late fee after the registration deadline.

CHURCH SOFTBALL

Take your team out to the ballgame!!  It is time to register your church team for summer softball league.  All men and women ages 14 and up are invited to put together a team from your church.  Games will be played on Sundays beginning June 3rd.  Game times will begin at 4:00pm.  Team registration is $125.00 and due by May 31st.  Contact the YMCA for more information.

AEROBICS

Working out with a group increases motivation to keep the habit of fitness.  Grab a friend and join the Y’s aerobic classes.  Check out our web page – www.algonaymca.org for the latest fitness class schedule.  The next session will run April 30th – June 8th.

MEMORIAL DAY

Just a reminder that the Algona Family YMCA will be closed on Memorial Day but will re-open bright and early @ 4:30am on Tuesday the 29th!

TEEN DANCE

Saturday, May 19th    from 7:30 – 10:30!

TWINS NIGHT!  Dress like a twin for a chance to win prizes!

$5.00 per person.

UPCOMING Y-PAL EVENT

The May Y-Pal event will be hosted at the YMCA shelter house on May17th.  We will be having a pork loin dinner, sponsored by Tom Eischen, and Frisbee golf.  Other events this summer will include canoeing at Smith Lake in June and sponsoring the Iowa Tent Theater production of Standing Tall, financed by the Haggard Twogood Trust, in July.

Our program continues to grow! We are now up to 78 partnerships.  We always have youth on our waiting list.  If you (or someone you know) has a few extra hours to spend with a child each month contact Bonny at the YMCA 295-7701.

PARTNERS WITH YOUTH

Our annual partners with youth campaign will be kicking off on May 16th.  Each year we are able to provide membership assistance, program assistance, camp sponsorships and much more, thanks to the generous donations generated from this event.  All businesses are welcome to purchase a banner that is proudly displayed in the Moss gymnasium for the entire year and shows that you are a youth supporter.  Individuals are also welcome to have their names displayed on the banners in the AMU youth gym.  Call the YMCA for more information on how you can donate to this campaign.

SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE

Do you know where your children will be??  The YMCA day camp program is a great opportunity for kids to get out of the house and experience something new and exciting.  Parents can register kids for as many weeks as they would like – up to the WHOLE SUMMER! We will have all day care available for May 24th and 25th for those kids that are out of school. Space is limited – so register today!  Contact the YMCA for more information.

SUMMER COLLEGE MEMBERSHIPS

All College students are welcome to join the YMCA during the summer to stay in shape while enjoying all of the home cooking!  Memberships are good for 100 days from purchase and are $100.00.  Stop by the YMCA today and treat your student while they are home!

KOSSUTH CONNECTIONS

On May 25th, we will be hosting a high school night at the YMCA from 8:00 pm until midnight!  We are inviting all high school students from Kossuth County to attend.  Join us at the YMCA for Guitar Hero, American Idol, dancing, food and more!!  This event is sponsored by Kossuth Connections and proceeds from the high school night will support future activities.  There will be a $2 charge for entrance.  We are also looking for interested students to become part of the planning and fun for our Kossuth Connections events.  If you are interested, please contact Jodee at the YMCA or email - jodee@algonaymca.org
