“10” THANK YOUS!!!!!

The Algona Family YMCA would like to thank the following businesses who have donated each year for the past 10 years to our annual “Partner With Youth” campaign.  In 1998, the Algona Family YMCA raised $26,000, for 2007 that amount has risen to $58,000!  The funds raised go towards providing quality programs, membership assistance, sending children to Camp Foster each summer and help provide an average of 120 backpacks filled with school supplies for those children in need to start off the school year.  Many thanks to these “10” year banner businesses and to those other individuals and businesses for their past donations and support!

KOSSUTH CONNECTIONS

The teen leadership group at the YMCA is once again sponsoring the lights of HOPE tree at the Scott and Sara Curtis home.  “Lights” can be purchased from any ‘HOPE’ member or at the YMCA for $1.00 each.  Donations will be accepted until December 15th.  100% of monies collected will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for Kossuth County Kindness for Kids.

Drive by the Curtis home on McGregor street to enjoy the many lights!

Be sure and check out all of the Kossuth Connections activities by clicking on the following link to view their latest newsletter: http://www.algonaymca.org/Documents/KCDec2007.pdf

WRAPPING PAPER

To help with the ‘Hope’ project above, we are asking if anyone has old Christmas gift wrap that they will not be using to donate it to this worthy cause.  Anyone wishing to donate it can drop it off at the YMCA.  The HOPE group will use this paper to wrap the gifts they purchase for the sponsored Christmas families.

YMCA CHILDCARE

The YMCA Childcare would like to wish you each a Merry Christmas! We are all very excited for the upcoming holiday.  The children have been busy working on winter projects – stop by either site and check them out! We are in need of the following items to help with our winter themed crafts: gallon milk jugs, ice cream buckets, Elmer’s glue, glue sticks, sleds, cotton balls, buttons and/or construction paper.  As you can imagine with winter colds we are going through a great deal of paper products.  Paper products, such as Kleenex, paper towels, napkins are always a great idea if you are thinking of a gift item for the childcare program.  Feel free to drop off any items to the YMCA or Bryant childcare site.

Thank you to the people and organizations that have been so gracious with toys, puzzles, videos, kind and supporting words of encouragement.  A special thank you the United Way of North Central Iowa for providing the YMCA childcare with a $20,000.00 venture grant for start up costs!

TEEN DANCE

Mark your calendar – there will be a teen dance Saturday, December 8th. If you bring a non-perishable food item for the Kossuth Food panty – admission is only $3.00!

All dances are from 7:30pm – 10:30pm.

BALLROOM DANCING

Classes will be starting in January for a new session of Ballroom Dancing.  Stop by the YMCA for upcoming class or watch the YMCA web site (www.algonaymca.org) for registration and class times.
