Before You know it they will be gone!  Limited edition ‘Make a Splash” beach towels are now on sale at the Algona Family YMCA!  These towels are only available until Friday, August 15, 2008. Each towel costs only $30.00 and proceeds go to the campaign.  Get yours today!  Towels feature the embroidered ‘Make a Splash” logo and Algona Family YMCA name.  You also can have your name embroidered for FREE!  Towels are available in Hot Pink, Bright Orange, Sunshine Yellow and Deep Red.  Stop in today and check them out!

**JOB FAIR!**

Great News!  We have many openings for staff starting soon!  To kick off the new fall season we will be having a Job Fair at the YMCA on Thursday, August 7^th from 10:00am – 1:00 pm.  During this time we will be looking for people to fill the following positions:

• Member Service Associates (Front Desk)
• Kids Corner Staff (Drop in Childcare for members)
• Childcare Staff –Both the Bryant and YMCA sites
• Family Center Staff
• Youth Sports Coaches and Officials.

We will be having on the spot mini-interviews.  We welcome all ages and walks of life to come and see how much fun can be had with a fulfilling job with the YMCA.

FALL PROGRAMMING

Our Fall programs are getting into swing!  All program registration forms will be available at the YMCA or on our website at www.algonaymca.org. 

Programs that we are currently taking registrations for:

• Youth Football – for boys and girls going into K-Prep -4^th grade
• Sept. 11^th – October 18^h   (Thurs. Practices & Sat. game days.) 
• K-Prep-K  Sat. only 9:00-9:45 am
• 1^st & 2^nd  grades
• Thurs 4:30 – 5:15 pm, Sat. 10:00-10:45
• 3^rd & 4^th  grades
• Thurs. 6:30 -7:30 pm, Sat. 11:00-12:00
• Registration Deadline Monday,  August 25^th
• Jersey and Mouth guards required.  Can be purchased at the YMCA.

• Rookie Football – for boys and girls 4 -5 years old
• September 10^th – October 1^st
• Wednesdays
• 4 year olds - 4:30-5:00
• 5 year olds – 5:15-5:45
• Registration Deadline August 25^th
• Jersey required. Can be purchased at the YMCA.

CHILDCARE FALL REGISTRATION

We are still taking registrations for YMCA Childcare!  The YMCA has a state-certified childcare for children ages 3 through 5^th grade.  School age children will be able to attend the childcare before and after school. Fees will start at $2.50 per hour – you will only pay for the hours your child is in childcare!

All families participating in the 2008-2009 school year program will need to complete new registration forms & pay the annual $20.00 registration fee.

TUMBLING SIGN UPS

Tumbling sign ups will begin on Tuesday, August 26^th.  Sign ups will be held in the AMU Youth gym at the end of the main hallway. Times to sign up will be as follows:

• Algona Family YMCA members that are past participants of tumbling:  Tuesday, August 26^th, 6:00 pm
• Algona Family YMCA members that are not past participants of tumbling:  Wednesday, August 27^th, 6:00 pm
• Non-YMCA members that are past participants of tumbling:  Thursday, August 28^th, 6:00 pm
• Non-YMCA members that are not past participants of tumbling:  Thursday, August 28^th, 6:30 pm

FITNESS CLASSES

Just a reminder that there are no fitness classes during the month of August.  Cycling sign-ups will be Monday, August 18 beginning at 6:00 am.  Watch for a new schedule - classes will resume Tuesday, September 2^nd!

FALL HOURS

Our Fall hours will go into effect on Tuesday, September 2^nd. They are as follows:

Monday – Thursday 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Friday – 4:30 AM to 9:00 PM

Saturday – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Sunday – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

TEEN DANCE

Mark your calendars – the first teen dance of the season will be Saturday, September 13^th from 7:30 – 10:30.  Admission is still only $5.00.  Teen dances are open to any students in 6^th, 7th, or 8^th grade.
