Algona Family YMCA “Care packs” program successful again this year!

The Algona Family YMCA had another great year distributing book bags full of the appropriate schools supplies for some families in need in the Kossuth County area.   This year’s success was due in part to the tremendous help of the Algona Rotary Club.  Many Rotary businesses and individuals supplied specific school supplies as well as cash donations.  The YMCA was able to give out a total of 120 book bags for the 2007-2008 school year.  Thanks to the Rotary club and the YMCA Partners with youth Campaign the YMCA was able to collect supplies and raise money to fund this program.

A big thank you to all that helped this year.   Monetary donations are accepted year round, if interested in donating contact Julie at the Algona Family YMCA at 295-7701.

SUMMER DAYCAMP

Day Camp is coming to an end for the 2007 summer.  There were a lot of laughs and good times, making this summer a success.  Some of the activities that we did this summer were: taking a trip to a Minnesota Twins game, roller skating, going to the movies, visiting area parks and swimming.  We would like to thank everyone who participated this year, and the counselors for all of their hard work.  Have a wonderful school year, and we hope to see you again next summer!

PARTNERS WITH YOUTH

Our annual Partners with Youth campaign is wrapping up! All businesses are welcome to purchase a banner that is proudly displayed in the Moss gymnasium for the entire year and shows that you are a youth supporter.  Individuals are also welcome to have their names displayed on the banners in the AMU youth gym.  Please consider making a donation to this important part of the Algona Family YMCA.
