The clinic expansion that broke ground on the Kossuth Regional Health Center campus last fall is on schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
“This is one of the needed improvements to provide adequate space for the growth of our services,” said Scott Curtis, administrator at KRHC. “We have seen a growth in the number of physicians and health care providers in our clinic as well as growth in the types of services we offer. We have simply outgrown the space that we have.”
The expansion will provide an additional 7,200 square feet of space to the east and south of the current clinic building. The construction is split into four phases that are happening over a time frame of 18 months. The first two phases involve mostly new construction and should be finished by mid-summer. The third and final phases will focus on the renovation of the existing space in the clinic.
“After we add the new space, then we will focus on revamping the existing space inside our current clinic. I anticipate that everything will be done by December of this year,” Curtis said.
The parking lot surrounding KRHC also had some improvement made to it. Upon completion of the building project, patients and visitors will be able to drive a continuous loop around KRHC with parking available all around the building.
Tri-Square Construction of Algona and Bergland & Cram architecture firm out of Mason City are working on the project.
