The Hydrogen Engine Center held a stockholder’s meeting in Algona on Friday, May 19 to discuss expansion and elect a new board of directors.
A quorum was met with 78 percent of the voting members present, representing 19.6 million voting shares of stock. Voting unanimously approved the four presented for the board of directors, approved the 2005 incentive compensation plan and ratified LWBJ of Des Moines as the independent accountants for 2006.
Ted Hollinger is the president, chief technical officer and founder of HEC. He has been involved in engine and computer technology since 1964, and over his career has been granted more than a dozen patents. He founded HEC Iowa in 2003.
Others confirmed on the board were:
- Thomas Trimble. He has worked in the industrial engine business for 43 years and has been with the Engine Center for North Coast Ford Industrial for 42 years. He has been on the board for HEC since Aug. 30, 2005.
- Edward T. Berg, MBA, CPA, CPCU. Berg is the president of Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company after joining them in 1977. He has served on the board of directors for Pharmacists Mutual since 1994 and was elected treasurer and chief executive officer in April, 2003.
“I’ve been in this community for 30 years, and this is a great opportunity for Kossuth County,” Berg said prior to his election to the board. “I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Ted and HEC.”
- Philip G. Ruggieri. He has been a managing partner of Norwich Group International in Orlando, Fla., since 2004. While at Norwich, he has been instrumental in developing new business investments with concentration in advanced technologies. His industry focus includes biomedical, travel, telecommunications and international technology transfers. Ruggieri spent 28 years with IBM and serves on the boards for several organizations, including being the chairman of the board for Florida’s Special Olympics.
