East Fork Biodiesel Moves Forward

With its office now open in downtown Algona, a board selected, the site for a 60-million gallon per year biodiesel manufacturing plant now chosen and the land option secured, East Fork Biodiesel, LLC, is moving forward.

East Fork Biodiesel board members are Kenneth M. Clark, president; Michael L. Duffy, vice president; Michael Kohlhaas, secretary; Dale Mechler, treasurer; Jim Meyer, Dan Muller, Allan Kramer, Dean Ulrich, Lennon Brandt, Jack Limbaugh, and Larry Sterk, directors.

The proposed plant location will be adjacent to the MaxYield fertilizer plant east of Algona and approximately one half mile from Highway 18, and is owned by Algona farmer Mark Ferstl.

The location had the three main items needed by the proposed plant: close to both AMU electricity and a gas line supplying natural gas and is connected to the Iowa Central and Eastern railroad.

Groundbreaking is expected for sometime this fall with a 14 month construction timetable.

East Fork Biodiesel’s office is located across from the Kossuth County Courthouse at 105 North Hall Street.
