KCEDC Intern Breakfast Offers
Opportunity to Network
(Algona) The Kossuth County Economic Development Corporation will provide interns and summer help a networking opportunity during the annual Intern Breakfast in May.
The breakfast is scheduled for May 24th at 7:30 am at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Algona, and will allow interns a chance to become acquainted with each other. This year’s guest speaker will be Brenda Clark Hamilton from Fresh Coffee: Professional Growth Programs. She will be speaking to our interns about bringing the best they have to offer to their work life, their home life, and their relationships. Her program is entitled “Bring You’re A Game To Every Aspect of Life.” The breakfast also provides the opportunity to network with CEO’s and Plant Managers.
Information packets will be provided to help the interns become acclimated with Kossuth County. The packets contain information on area activities, restaurants, medical and dental offices, utility services, churches, and banks and credit unions.
Interns and summer help attending the KCEDC Intern Breakfast also have the opportunity to participate in the Intern Advisory Committee. The committee meets several times during the summer to help direct the intern program.
The Kossuth County Career/Intern Program was developed thirteen years ago by KCEDC as a means of guaranteeing a future workforce in the county. Maureen Elbert, Executive Director of KCEDC, said “The program encourages young adults to settle and bring new businesses to the area. This program also gives them true skill building training sessions that will hopefully enhance their ability to obtain a good job and make them a committed and productive employee and community leader.”
There will be 40 interns coming to Kossuth County for summer employment. Elbert says, “This program has truly grown and been enhanced over the years. We have a key committee, the KCEDC Career-Intern Committee, that plans and volunteers to work at the Intern Program throughout the summer. This is a fun group that is truly volunteering their time to make a difference for our area. We have so many examples of college graduates that have returned to our area either following graduation or after years being in the workforce and starting a family.”
